It has been well reported that Heartland Alliance, a non-profit based in Chicago, operates nine immigrant detention centers for children in the city of Chicago. Reports by ProPublica detail the conditions inside of the centers, where children are isolated from their parents, vulnerable to abuse by authority figures, and live strictly regimented lives that clearly resemble jails way more than voluntary care centers.
The whole process is involuntary. The children are brought to the centers by ICE agents, where they are not allowed to leave and then usually wait months (up to even a year in the worst cases) to see their parents again or until they turn 18, at which point they are deported.
In solidarity with the traumatized children and the various activist groups that are working every day to close these inhumane centers, Anonymous has released a new batch of documents pertaining to the operation of these centers. The files can be found here.
This is only the first part of many releases to come, consider it a proof of obtained documents.
